This publication is an update of the "Small Arms and Light Weapons Selected United Nations Documents" prepared by the Department for Disarmament Affairs and the Department of Public Information soon after the First Biennial Meeting of States to Consider the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons, held in July 2003. It contains various General Assembly and Security Council documents related to the issue of small arms and light weapons.

Paper I is about world peace and economic prosperity
Paper II looks at confidence-building measures as a tool for disarmament development
Paper III speaks about the Commission on Disarmament and Development.

The papers were based on the presentations made at the Symposium on the Relationship Between Disarmament and Development, November 2004, by three experts in the field.
