This map illustrates satellite-detected areas of damage in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur Province, Philippines. Using WorldView-2 imagery collected 26 July 2017 and compared to imagery collected 09 and 20 June 2017, UNOSAT located a total 217 areas of destruction comprising a total area of 45.5 ha mainly in the eastern part of the city. This represents 100 additional areas and an increase of 24.2 ha (or 113%) compared to the previous analysis done by UNOSAT using the image from 20 June 2017.
An earthquake of 6.5 Magnitude struck Philippines the 06 July 2017 08:03 UTC (16:03 local time) with an epicentre located 3 km NNE of Masarayao, Ormoc City Municipality of Eastern Visayas region in Philippines and a hypocentre at 10km depth. This shallow depth earthquake induced strong shake in the epicentral area and it was felt in Leyte and some other Islands of the Visayas archipelago.
