The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) expressed its gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines for its humanitarian aid amounting to USD 100,000 or P5.1-million that will benefit the families devastated by the recent Tropical Storm Urduja in the Visayas.

PRC Secretary General Atty. Oscar Palabyab personally received the donation from Chinese Embassy to the Philippines Counsellor Sun Yi at the PRC National Headquarters in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday.

  • Tropical Cyclone DOKSURI (named MARING in the Philippines) continued moving west over South China Sea, toward Vietnam. On 14 September at 0.00 UTC it had max. sustained winds speed of 120 km/h and its centre was located approx. 350 km south-east of Hainan island (China).

  • Over the next 24 h it is forecast to continue moving north-west, strengthening, and it could pass south of Hainan province (China) in the afternoon of 14 September UTC and it may reach North Central Region (Vietnam) as a Typhoon in the morning of 15 September.

  • Tropical Cyclone DOKSURI continued moving west over Luzon as a tropical depression. It reached the South China Sea and continued moving west, strengthening. On 13 September at 0.00 UTC it was located 800 km from Hainan (China).

  • Over the next 24 hours, it is forecast to strengthen and pass south of Hainan province. It may reach central-northern Vietnam as a typhoon.

  • According to local media, as of 13 September at 6.30 UTC, the death toll in the Philippines has now reached four people. In addition, six people have gone missing.

  • A new Tropical Cyclone PAKHAR (named JOLINA in the Philippines), formed in the western Pacific ocean over the Philippines Sea on 24 August.

  • Over the next 24 hours, it could reach the area near Baler (Luzon island) as a tropical storm, causing heavy rains and strong winds. After that, it is forecast to move towards the Chinese province of Guangdong on 27 August, as an intense Tropical Storm or Typhoon. It could affect the same area already hit by Tropical Cyclone HATO, which caused casualties and major damages.
