Cross-border movement of Afghans continued to increase compared with last few weeks. This week, the repatriation of registered Afghan refugees and return of undocumented Afghans matched pre-Ramadan figures of early May.

Some 90% (1,109 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (586 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Cross-border movement of Afghans resumed this week after Eid holidays. Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees and return of undocumented Afghans marked significant increase compared to the week of 10 to 16 June.

Some 90% (354 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (165 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees and return of undocumented Afghans marked significant decreases as compared to the week of 3 to 9 June.
Some 72% (38 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 100% (9 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees decreased by 32% compared to 97 refugees that repatriated between 27 May and 2 June 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans was 15% less than last week’s figure of 252.

Some 97% (208 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 100% (66 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

This week, repatriation of registered Afghan refugees decreased by 13% compared to 112 refugees that repatriated between 20 and 26 May 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans was 12% less than last week’s figure of 286.

Some 91% (229 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 96% (93 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Cross-border movement continued to remain significantly low due to Ramadan. Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees decreased by 80% compared to 556 refugees that repatriated between 13 and 19 May 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans was 66% less than last week’s figure of 837.

Some 96% (275 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 99% (111 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees increased slightly compared to 766 refugees that repatriated between 15 and 21 April 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans was 40% more than last week’s figure of 824.

Some 96% (1,102 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (759 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees increased by 20% compared to 636 refugees that repatriated between 8 and 14 April 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans was 18% less compared to last week’s figure of 999. Some 96% (792 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 94% (717 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

19 Apr 2018 description

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees figures were similar to 636 refugees that repatriated between 1 and 7 April 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans decreased slightly compared to last week’s figure of 1,003.

Some 94% (938 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (624 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

13 Apr 2018 description

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees decreased slightly this week compared to 676 refugees that repatriated between 25 and 31 March 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans increased slightly compared to last week’s figure of 987. Some 96% (963 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 95% (606 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

06 Apr 2018 description

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees doubled this week compared to 337 refugees that repatriated between 18 and 24 March 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans also increased, by 37%, compared to last week’s figure of 720. Some 96% (946 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (661 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

30 Mar 2018 description

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees decreased slightly compared to 357 refugees that repatriated between 11 and 17 March 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans also decreased, by 9%, compared to last week’s figure of 789.
Some 94% (676 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 97% (326 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

28 Mar 2018 description

During the period of 15 September to 28 February, 891 families returned to North Waziristan Agency. Although IDP returns are not officially open, a small number of families have chosen to return during the winter season. The government has not yet announced the opening of 2018 returns.

11 Dec 2017 description

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees was 34% less compared to 688 refugees that repatriated between 19 and 25 November 2017. Return of undocumented Afghans decreased by 14% compared to last week’s figure of 666 individuals.
Some 74% (427 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (447 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance. UNHCR has suspended the voluntary repatriation program from 1 December for the winter break.
