Au cours des trois dernières semaines seulement, plus de 50 000 personnes ont été affectées dans les villes de Batangafo, dans la préfecture de l’Ouham, et Alindao, dans la préfecture de Basse Kotto, où deux principaux sites des personnes déplacées ont été incendiés.

Bangui/Geneva, 21 November 2018 – The humanitarian crisis in the Central African Republic (CAR) continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate, marked by growing forced displacement, insecurity and access constraints for civilians and humanitarian workers. In the past 3 weeks alone, over 50,000 people have been affected in Batangafo town, in the Ouham prefecture, and in Alindao town, in the Basse Kotto prefecture, where two main sites for internally displaced persons have been set ablaze.

Bangui, le 16 novembre 2018 – La Coordonnatrice humanitaire en République centrafricaine, Najat Rochdi, condamne avec la dernière énergie l'attaque contre un site des personnes déplacées à Alindao, dans la préfecture de Basse Kotto, qui a fait plusieurs victimes civiles et a entrainé un déplacement forcé des populations.

Deux semaines à peine après les violence et l'incendie à Batangafo, le site de la Mission Catholique à Alindao a été incendié le 15 novembre. Près de 20 000 personnes ont été affectées et des milliers de personnes ont été contraintes de fuir à nouveau.

Bangui, 16 November 2018 – The Humanitarian Coordinator in the Central African Republic, Najat Rochdi, strongly condemns the attack on a site for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Alindao town, in the Basse Kotto prefecture, which led to several civilian casualties and forced displacement.

Barely two weeks after the violence and the fire incident in Batangafo, on 15 November, the Catholic Mission site in Alindao town was set ablaze. Nearly 20,000 people have been affected and thousands have been forced to flee once again.

Lagos, 16 November 2018 – Leading Nigerian companies from the banking, energy, legal and consumer services sectors, among others, have joined forces with the United Nations, in support of the Government of Nigeria, to tackle the humanitarian crisis in the country’s north-east.

The United Nations Nigeria Humanitarian Fund-Private Sector Initiative (NHF-PSI) was launched on Thursday in Lagos, marking the first time that the private sector is collaborating with the United Nations through a country-based fund that pools resources to deliver humanitarian aid to people in need.

The camp hosts 12,600 civilians who are seeking refuge there after having fled the violence in north-east Nigeria in past months.

Abuja, 17 September 2018 - The Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Edward Kallon, condemns the killing of the aid worker and midwife Saifura Hussaini Ahmed Khorsa in north-east Nigeria. Ms. Hussaini, 25 years old, was abducted on 1 March 2018 in Rann town, Borno State, where she was working with the International Committee of the Red Cross, following a deadly attack by a Non-State Armed Group in which three aid workers were killed. Two other female aid workers were also kidnapped during that incident.
