Oct 23 (Reuters) - Hurricane Gonzalo caused between $200 million and $400 million in insured losses over the weekend on Bermuda, according to an estimate by AIR Worldwide, a Boston-based catastrophe modeling company.

People on the Hawaiian Islands are preparing for the arrival of Tropical Storm Ana and the American Red Cross is opening evacuation shelters later today to provide a safe refuge for people as the storm hits the islands.

Governor Neil Abercrombie has declared an emergency for the entire state. The storm could bring up to 15 inches of rain to the Aloha State which may lead to flash flooding and mudslides. Large surf swells may cause damage to shorelines throughout the state.

Department of Parks advises of dangerous waves and rip currents on South Shore beaches

The Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) advised that as of the 11:30 am forecast Bermuda is now under Tropical Storm Watch.

After consultation with the National Hurricane Centre (NHC), the BWS has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Bermuda and the surrounding Marine Area due to the NHC forecast for Hurricane Katia.

MIAMI, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Kyle swirled over the Atlantic Ocean on Friday and threatened to strengthen into a hurricane by Saturday night as it bore down on the northeast U.S. coast, U.S. forecasters said.

Kyle, which formed on Thursday, had sustained winds near 60 mph (95 kph) as it moved on a path that could take it to landfall by Sunday in New England or Canada's maritime provinces as a minimal Category 1 hurricane on the five-step hurricane intensity scale.

HAMILTON, July 14 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Bertha buffeted the eastern shores of Bermuda with high winds and heavy rains on Monday, and forecasters said it was expected to become a hurricane again as it strengthened slowly off the British colony.
