(UNHCR says 8,000 have arrived since June)

GENEVA -- The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees says that between
150 and 200 Burundi refugees are arriving in Tanzania every day,
fleeing unrest and fighting in their villages.

A UNHCR spokeswoman said a total of 8,000 refugees have arrived in
the Kigoma region of Tanzania since June.

"They are coming from Bururi and Makamba provinces, and they say
there is unrest and fighting in their villages and they are worried
about being caught in the crossfire," Pam O'Toole told a press
