Gul Shahideen was born on 7th May, 2017 in Dari Wasta, Tehsil Datta Khel, North Waziristan Agency(NWA) of Federally Administrative Tribal Area (FATA). He has five sisters and one brother. His father is from a poor family and has worked for daily wages for the last 20 years. The family was displaced and migrated to Bannu in 2014 due to insurgency and complex protracted emergency in NWA. Like many other conflict affected families; Gul Shahideen’s family also experienced a reduction in breastfeeding due to the humanitarian crises situation.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees increased slightly compared to 766 refugees that repatriated between 15 and 21 April 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans was 40% more than last week’s figure of 824.

Some 96% (1,102 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (759 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

HUMANITARIAN CONTEXT

In 2017, the Pakistan Humanitarian Strategic Plan focused on the returning displaced population, paying specific attention to vulnerable groups, and on the remaining 1.4 million registered Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Malnutrition among affected populations was prioritized, and the Humanitarian Country Team continued to strengthen preparedness for large-scale natural disasters.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees increased by 20% compared to 636 refugees that repatriated between 8 and 14 April 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans was 18% less compared to last week’s figure of 999. Some 96% (792 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 94% (717 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees figures were similar to 636 refugees that repatriated between 1 and 7 April 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans decreased slightly compared to last week’s figure of 1,003.

Some 94% (938 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (624 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees decreased slightly this week compared to 676 refugees that repatriated between 25 and 31 March 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans increased slightly compared to last week’s figure of 987. Some 96% (963 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 95% (606 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Return of undocumented Afghans also increased, by 37%, compared to last week’s figure of 720. Some 96% (946 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 98% (661 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

Repatriation of registered Afghan refugees decreased slightly compared to 357 refugees that repatriated between 11 and 17 March 2018. Return of undocumented Afghans also decreased, by 9%, compared to last week’s figure of 789.
Some 94% (676 individuals) of the undocumented returnees were provided with needs-based assistance while 97% (326 individuals) of the registered Afghan refugee returnees were provided with cash assistance.

28 Mar 2018 description

During the period of 15 September to 28 February, 891 families returned to North Waziristan Agency. Although IDP returns are not officially open, a small number of families have chosen to return during the winter season. The government has not yet announced the opening of 2018 returns.
