Du 13 au 16 novembre 2018, s’est tenu à Casablanca deux ateliers (l’un dans les locaux de la Direction Régionale de la Santé et l’autre au niveau de l’Observatoire Régional de la Santé) de formation des professionnels de santé des Etablissements de Soins de Santé Primaire (ESSP) de la région Casablanca-Settat. Les participants sont venus des ESSP de Casablanca et localités environnantes. Nombreux parmi eux reçoivent déjà des migrant-e-s dans leur centre de santé respectif.

The Moroccan authorities have decided to repatriate all the sub-Saharan migrants who tried, on Sunday morning, to storm across the Spain-occupied city of Melillia to their countries of origin, the Interior Ministry said Monday.

Public forces intervened to foil this assault attempt and arrested 141 illegal immigrants, the ministry pointed out in a statement, adding that 12 soldiers and a member of the auxiliary forces were wounded during this operation before being rushed into a hospital in the city of Nador to receive the necessary health care.

The people on board called the Coordination Center for Maritime Rescue as the ship started to sink while still in the Moroccan Alawi rescue zone, but no help reached them for 36 hours.

Since the end of July, the Moroccan police together with the Royal Gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces have carried out major raids on the neighbourhoods where refugees and migrants live in several cities, with particular intensity in the northern provinces of Tangiers, Nador and Tetuan, which neighbour the Spanish borders.

Morocco's Immigration and Asylum Strategy enabled refugees to recover their dignity and contribute to wealth creation, said, Wednesday in Rabat, UNHCR representative in Morocco Jean-Paul Cavaliéri.

Over 5,000 people from thirty countries, as Syria, Yemen, Congo, Iraq and Palestine, took refuge in Morocco and benefited from free movement accross the country, said Cavaliéri at a press briefing on the World Refugee Day.

Excessive Force, Arrests, Prisoner Abuse in Mining Town

(Tunis) – Moroccan police responded to March 2018 protests in the impoverished mining town of Jerada with weeks of repression, Human Rights Watch said. Security forces used excessive force against protesters, recklessly drove a police van into a 16-year-old boy, who was severely injured, and arrested protest leaders and reportedly mistreated them in detention.
