While there is room for disagreement about migration policy, the humanitarian imperative means that we must never needlessly sacrifice the survival and dignity of any vulnerable people, including migrants.
On 18 June 2018, the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) released its 2017 Annual Report on the Situation of Asylum in the European Union. In 2017, there were 728,470 applications for international protection in the EU. This figure represents a decrease of 44% compared to 2016, when there were almost 1.3 million applications, while provisional data for early 2018 (January - April) shows that application levels have stabilised at an average of less than 50,000 per month.

The 2014-2015 Ebola outbreak in West Africa disrupted the region's health systems, job markets, and food supplies. Congress appropriated funds to USAID and State for Ebola response and preparedness. USAID and, to a lesser extent, State used some funds for Ebola recovery projects.
We reported on the status of USAID's recovery projects. USAID had completed 62 of its 131 projects, as of September 2017.

Focus of the report
This report contains an analysis of the responses provided by migrants and refugees travelling along the Central and the Eastern Mediterranean routes and interviewed under IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) activities in 2017. Male and female migrants are systematically compared.
Direct payments by patients at the point of health care delivery, commonly known as user fees, lead to low utilization or exclusion of health care services on offer, difficult assessment of health needs and epidemic risks, and impoverish entire households. Vulnerable groups are particularly affected. over the past decade, many countries transitioned away from their user fee policies in favor of free health care initiatives for all or for specific population groups, such as pregnant women, children, and people with certain illnesses.
Focus of the analysis
This report provides comparative analysis of migrants` demographic profile, cost of journey, and their future travel intentions between two time periods: 2016 and 2017. The analysis presents findings about all migrant surveyed and focuses on the comparison of the main features by route and by year of the interview.
