Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- The flood and typhoon that swept most areas of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea from mid-June to late August caused heavy casualties and material losses in the country.
According to data available, 300 people were confirmed dead and another 600 injured and missing throughout the country.
The devastating flood damaged, destroyed and submerged more than 87 280 houses, leaving 298 050 people homeless.
Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) -- DPRK Premier Choe Yong Rim, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, made a field survey of Komdok area where operations are now under way to recover from typhoon and downpour damage as early as possible.
Service personnel and people are now waging a high-pitched drive to recover from flood damage, helping and pulling each other along true to the order of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un.
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- Typhoon-15 brought big damage to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
As of Sunday, it was confirmed that the typhoon left 48 persons dead and more than 50 injured or missing, 6 700 odd houses destroyed or inundated and 21 180 people homeless across the country.
It also damaged at least 50 000 hectares of farmland, ravaging crops in 45 320 hectares of paddy and non-paddy fields.
More than 16 730 trees fell down and 880 industrial and public buildings were disabled.
Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- Typhoon-15, which swept across most areas of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, left 3 people dead, over 3 300 people homeless and more than 32 000 hectares of farmland ravaged.
According to data available on Thursday, more than 490 houses were submerged or destroyed in Paekam County, Ryanggang Province and 100 in Sinpho City, South Hamgyong Province.
Over 1 250 hectares of farmland were inundated throughout the country, more than 1 000 hectares of farmland in South Hwanghae Province, one of the nation's granaries.
Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- Typhoon-15, which swept across the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, claimed material damages in some parts of the country.
In South Hwanghae Province, the typhoon ravaged over 8 500 hectares of maize field, toppled more than 600 roadside trees and removed roofs of several public buildings.
In North Hwanghae Province, it inactivated TV relay facilities, tumbled down more than 2 600 roadside trees and destroyed or damaged some 20 dwelling houses and public buildings.
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- Western Areas of the DPRK are suffering from typhoon-15.
According to an initial survey, some 450 roadside trees fell down by strong wind in South Hwanghae Province.
The typhoon cut off power lines in Haeju, suspending electricity supply to factories and dwelling houses in the city.
It carried away a 200-square-meter roof of a facility of Ryesonggang Power Station No. 6.
Many hectares of farmland were seriously affected by the typhoon in the province, making it hard to expect harvest.
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Officials and other people across the DPRK are making efforts to recover from the flood damage.
Downpour, triggered by typhoon-7, hit the whole area of Korea on July 18 and 19. It rained heavily in some areas of Pyongyang City, North and South Phyongan, Jagang, South Hamgyong and Kangwon provinces from night of July 22 to 9:00 on July 24.
The downpour and strong rainstorm destroyed farmland, houses, public buildings and bridges and temporarily suspended train service in those areas, causing big damage.
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- There have been heavy rainfalls in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea since the start of rainy season on July 18.
The flood caused by heavy rains and typhoon-7 from 18 to 19 has brought big damage to various parts of the country.
According to data available, the flood left eight persons dead throughout the country as of July 22.
More than 650 dwelling houses were destroyed and nearly 3,870 houses submerged, leaving more than 16 250 people homeless.
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Flood caused by typhoon and downpour which swept almost areas of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on July 18-24 claimed big human and material losses.
According to data available, the flood left 88 people dead and 134 injured throughout the country as of July 28. The biggest human losses were reported in Sinyang and Songchon counties of South Phyongan Province, which were hit by torrential rains on July 23 and 24.
More than 5 000 houses were destroyed or damaged, 12 030 houses inundated and nearly 62 900 people left homeless.
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- Downpour has brought big damage to the railway service in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
On July 23, the torrential rain washed away roadbed in several hundred-meter-long railway sections between Tongsin and Kaego and between Kaego and Jinphyong.
Earlier, a railway bridge between Jangphyong and Kimchaek was damaged and some parts of Tonsan-Paekgumsan railway section were buried by mudslides, affected by typhoon-7.
Over 10 000 cubic meters of mudslide fell on a section of Paekam-Taethaek railroad.
Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- The downpour, triggered by the typhoon-7, seriously hit Kangwon and South Hwanghae provinces of the DPRK, causing big human and material losses.
In Kangwon Province, the flood left seven people dead, many hectares of farmland inundated and some of dwelling houses, public buildings, railways, roads, bridges, breakwaters, electric supply and communication networks destroyed. Water supply system was paralyzed in Wonsan and Munchon cities, suspending the provision of drinking water to citizens.
Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea suffered losses in the western coastal areas affected by the typhoon-9, Muifa, from Sunday evening.
According to results of an initial survey, the typhoon claimed more than ten casualties and destroyed many dwelling houses in North Hwanghae Province.
An estimated 1 000 hectares of standing crop were seriously damaged and some 1 000 roadside trees fell down in the province, causing a traffic congestion.
Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- It heavily rained in different areas of Korea today, with typhoon-9 of 960 hpa of central atmospheric pressure moving from the West Sea of Korea at the speed of 28 km/h.
The rainfall registered 125 mm in Sinchon County, South Hwanghae Province, 108 mm and 100 mm in Rinsan and Sohung counties of North Hwanghae Province and 105 mm in Sudong District of South Hamgyong Province from 00:00 to 18:00.
Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- The west coastal areas of Korea have been affected by typhoon-9. According to information released by the Central Meteorological Research Institute, the typhoon has brought strong winds of 17 meters per second and much rain to South Hwanghae Province from 9 p.m. Sunday.
North Hwanghae Province has been battered by 15m/s winds and Nampho city by 11m/s from around 00:00 Monday.
With the typhoon moving northward, North and South Phyongan Provinces are likely to be hit by a heavy rain from Monday night.
Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- In the wake of human and material losses in the DPRK caused by typhoon-5 and heavy rains from late June to mid-July, a rain-triggered flood has harassed the country again from late July.
South Hwanghae Province has suffered most seriously from the flood.
The government has launched a nationwide effort to stabilize the flood victims' living and rebuild wrecked dwelling houses and public buildings.
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- A nationwide effort has been launched in the DPRK to recover from damage caused by a recent typhoon.
Most areas of the DPRK were affected by typhoon-5 for three days from June 25.
The typhoon brought a strong wind, heavy rain and tidal wave to the DPRK, claiming casualties and leaving more than 160 dwelling blocks destroyed and over 21,000 hectares of cultivated areas submerged, washed away and buried mainly in west coastal areas.
Public buildings, production facilities, roads and river banks were wrecked or inundated.
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Typhoon-5 Meari has caused strong wind and heavy rain in the DPRK, mainly west coastal areas.
15-22 m per second wind hit more than 20 areas including Haeju, Sariwon and Anju cities and Unryul, Ryongyon and Taedong counties from 06:00 Sunday to 15:00 Monday.
Kangwon Province, South and North Hwanghae provinces and Kaesong City had heavy rainfalls from 12:00 Saturday to 15:00 Monday, 209 mm in Kosong, 195 mm in Hoeyang and 194 mm in Pongchon.
Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- Typhoon-5 Meari is moving northward at speed of 60 km per hour in the DPRK.
Strong wind of 10-13 m per second hit Haeju and Kaesong cities, Ongjin and Sepho counties and other areas from 03:00 to 09:00 Sunday.
Rainfall of 105 mm was registered in Hoeyang County, 90 mm in Kosong and Pongchon counties, 79 mm in Thongchon and Chongdan counties, 76 mm in Yonan County, 73 mm in Kosan County and 70 mm in Changdo County from 12:00 Saturday to 12:00 Sunday.
Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The downpour brought by the typhoon Wipha traveling from Shandong Peninsula of China to the north of the West Sea of Korea fell in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for consecutive days from September 18.
In particular, the amount of rainfalls in some areas in the western coast reaches nearly 50 percent of that in the period from August 7 to 14.
