  • Un (1) cas importé de dengue de type 2 a été signalé par l’Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) de Nouvelle-Zélande pour la période allant du 1er au 7 septembre 2018. Il s’agit d’une personne ayant séjourné aux Îles Salomon.

East Africa worst hit by internal displacement in first half of 2018

Geneva, 12 September 2018 - Latest figures from the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) reveal that millions of people across the world have become displaced inside their own country since January. Worldwide, there were 5.2 million new internal displacements associated with conflict and violence in the first half of 2018, based on the analysis of data from the 10 worst-affected countries.

The Pacific Humanitarian Team (PHT) is a network of humanitarian organizations that work together to assist the Pacific island countries prepare for and respond to disasters. During disasters, the PHT provides support to governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and communities in delivering a fast, effective and appropriate disaster response. Outside of disasters, the PHT works with the Pacific governments and partners to ensure that the necessary arrangements are in place to enable effective international support to nationally-led disaster response.

  • Six (6) cas importés de dengue (sérotype DEN-2 : 4 cas, sérotype DEN-4: 1 cas et sérotype inconnu: 1 cas) ont été signalés par les services sanitaires du Queensland (données relatives aux maladies à déclaration obligatoire) au cours de la période du 1er janvier 2018 au 26 août 2018 (informations disponibles en ligne). Il s’agit de personnes ayant séjourné aux Fidji.

Dengue

  • Ongoing dengue serotype-2 outbreak in **American Samoa**. As of 25 August, 2018 there have been 1,085 confirmed cases since 1 November 2016;. The outbreak appears to be slowing down. For further details please refer to Aifili Tufa's PacNet post on 28 August 2018.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) has issued a Tsunami Threat for the following coasts, stating:

  • TSUNAMI WAVES REACHING 0.3 TO 1 METERS ABOVE THE TIDE LEVEL ARE POSSIBLE FOR SOME COASTS OF FIJI... NEW CALEDONIA... AND VANUATU.

Activities & General Updates

  • Am. Samoa have not seen any ZIKV PCR positive cases since June 2016. From Aug 19 – Aug25, Hawaii State Lab (HSL) released results for 3 samples tested via ZIKA IgM MAC ELISA, 1 was tested positive. Positive serology tests (IgM) for Zika was discussed and has been agreed to monitor PCR positive results.

  • Am. Samoa continue to see a decline in the ratio of samples that test positive for Dengue Virus infection. For Epi Weeks 34, HSL release results for 14 samples tested via RT-PCR, with 2 positive cases.

For Epi Weeks 30 to 32, there was an average of 3 positive Dengue cases per week.
