Dentro del marco del Expo Agua Perú 2018, Perú y Holanda firmarán el Blue Deal, convenio que contendrá una propuesta de asistencia técnica 2019-2030 para las cuencas vulnerables de Tumbes y Piura.
El presidente del Centro de Competencias del Agua, Bram Willems, entidad organizadora de la IV edición de Expo Agua 2018, remarcó la importancia de este tipo de iniciativas para el país.

In response to increased food insecurity mostly caused by conflict, the United Nation’s Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan on Friday led a delegation launching a Partnership for Recovery and Resilience Programme in Yambio, aimed at reconstructing the Western Equatoria region.
ICCO Cooperation, together with 8 other aid organizations in the Netherlands, started a campaign to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Sulawesi, Indonesia. On October 10, a national action day for Sulawesi was organized. TV and radio channels paid in their programs attention to the disaster and the humanitarian aid. In total, €11.255.853 was raised, a great result.
- 391 refugees (114 families) were submitted for resettlement, of which 373 were from DRC, 18 from BDI, SOM and Sudan, and none from South Sudan.
- 328 refugees (85 families) departed to the USA (228), Norway (75) and Sweden (25).

The duration of asylum procedures is significantly increasing in the Netherlands, despite steady numbers of asylum seekers arriving in the country. According to a brief submitted to the Parliament (Tweede Kamer) by the Dutch Council for Refugees, the waiting time for applicants to start the procedure with the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) has risen to 20 weeks, compared to 8 weeks at the beginning of last year.
Baghdad, 30 August 2018 - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Training and Qualification Directorate in the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) jointly delivered two pilot courses on training of trainers (ToT) on the topic of ‘Improving the Effectiveness of Local Police (IELP)’. The course duration was two weeks and was attended by 38 mid-ranking police officers from the training academies in Baghdad, Anbar, Ninewa, Basra, Salah Al-Din, Kirkuk and Diyala provinces.

Baghdad, 26 August 2018 – The Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has contributed an additional USD 23.2 million (EUR 20 million) to UNDP’s Funding Facility for Stabilization (FFS), which finances fast-track initiatives to stabilize areas liberated from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This brings the Netherlands’ total contribution to USD 65.4 million (EUR 57 million).

Europe is a destination for people seeking international protection or a better life, due to wars, political turmoil and the poverty affecting its neighbouring regions. This inflow adds to the migrants and refugees who have already settled in Europe. At the same time, populists question Europe’s capacity to absorb a greater number of migrants and refugees, as well as the latter’s willingness to integrate.
The Dutch government will support displaced Iraqis returning to towns and villages recently occupied by ISIS. Sigrid Kaag, the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, announced the support during a visit to Mosul, the liberated city in northern Iraq where the terrorist organisation declared the caliphate in 2014.
