In this course participants become acquainted with the policy instruments, governance mechanisms and financial structures related to HIV and AIDS. Participants analyse political and institutional structures and their implications for planning and managing responses. They also learn to identify HIV and AIDS-related international agreements, conventions and financial mechanisms, and analyse how these influence national planning and implementation and vice versa. The course focuses on the situation in low and Middle Income Countries.

Reproductive health services are no longer limited to population control and safe motherhood. The women’s movement has drawn attention to the implications of human rights for women’s health, which goes beyond their reproductive capacity and includes a rights-based and gendered approach to issues such as HIV and AIDS and sexually-transmitted infections (STIs). The HIV and AIDS epidemic has a dramatic impact on the social and economic situation of individuals communities and societies.

Our Programme

Humanitarian staff are often confronted with chronic diseases, particularly when crises hit populations from middle-income countries and in urban settings. However, as programmatic responses are relatively recent, there is a lack of trained and experienced staff. To fill this gap, CERAH offers a one-week intensive course on chronic diseases in humanitarian contexts.

Our Programme

CERAH offers a one-week intensive course on Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies. This course was developed jointly with the Norwegian Refugee Council’s standby roster NORCAP and UNFPA.

The course aims to develop the understanding of sexual and reproductive health issues in emergencies and provide participants with the necessary skills to coordinate the implementation of a minimum set of sexual and reproductive health interventions. It addresses to mid-level or senior managers.

It continues by looking at why it is important to involve young people in the planning and implementation of any program that targets them, and how to promote youth participation. You will also look closely at some of the contemporary health issues that affect young people, such as nutrition and diet, sexual and reproductive health and drug abuse.
