Humanity First International held a conference on 10th January titled ‘Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management’ at their Headquarters in Surbiton, UK. Professor Gyöngyi Kovács, Erkko Professor in Humanitarian Logistics, travelled from Helsinki to present at the conference.

With over 25 participants on-site and over 370 participants watching the live stream worldwide, organisations attending included:

Save the Children with funding from IKEA has developed a capacity building programme to strengthen Child Protection in Emergencies response capability in the East and Southern Africa Region. It aims to increase regional and national deployment capacity and reserves.

This course is developed and contributed by the Emergency Medicine Unit of The University of Hong Kong and the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with the generous funding of the China Medical Board.

This Webinar is a one-hour introductory session ideal for humanitarians in ICT or IM with technical background, who are interested in learning how to use the ActivityInfo API with the R Language in order to be able to produce reports based on the data collected in ActivityInfo.

The session will cover some basic concepts of the R language, an introduction to the ActivityInfo R Client and practical examples on how to retrieve and update data using the R Language as well as how to produce visualizations based on this data.

On Thursday, 8 November, ICVA and PHAP organized the first session in the learning stream on the Navigating change. The discussion provided an overview of the concept of localization in the humanitarian sector, how it has evolved, and how it is currently used. Participants learned more about how governments, private donors, the business community, and diaspora actors see current opportunities, trends, and challenges.
