This course introduces humanitarian practitioners and policy professionals to the international legal frameworks and standards that protect refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and forced migrants, including international refugee law (IRL), the relevant provisions of international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL), and soft-law instruments. It also aims to foster reflection among participants on how States, international organizations, and other actors implement these norms and standards in practice.

Safer Edge is offering a 4 day, residential HEAT course in Amman, Jordan between 11-15 November 2018. Jordan HEATs are specifically designed for organisations and individuals living and working in challenging, hostile or remote environments in the Middle East. This course is tailored to the context of work in the Middle East covering personal security preparedness, kidnap avoidance, survival and response and remote field first aid. The course is extended by one day from a normal HEAT to facilitate the participation and understanding of those who might not be native English speakers.
