Masterclass | Gender-sensitive Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

Masterclass - 1 day, 19 May 2026, from 9:30 to 16:30

Description: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) is about more than data and indicators — it’s about understanding whose realities are being measured and whose voices are heard. Integrating a gender perspective helps ensure that evidence truly reflects the experiences, needs and contributions of all people involved.

This masterclass helps you bring a gender lens into your MEL practice. You will explore how gender influences the design, implementation and interpretation of monitoring and evaluation systems, and how inclusive learning processes can lead to more equitable and effective results.

Through a mix of short inputs, group discussion and practical examples, you will learn how to collect and analyse data in a way that is both rigorous and gender-aware, and how to turn findings into actionable insights that promote equality and inclusion.

By the end of this masterclass, you will:

  • Understand the key concepts behind gender-sensitive MEL
  • Identify and address gender bias in monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Formulate gender-responsive indicators and data collection tools
  • Analyse results through an intersectional lens to uncover different experiences and outcomes
  • Use MEL findings to inform more inclusive planning, decision-making and communication
