4-day training module to strengthen the learners’ capacity to successfully manage EU-funded projects
Get a practical overview of the key aspects related to the preparation of project proposals to get funding from DG DEVCO and DG NEAR. Discover how the EU funding and programming system works, in particular regarding the specificities of financial instruments for the EU external aid. Get some tips and tricks on how to get information and establish a fruitful relationship with the EC and the EU delegations. Know how to deal with calls for proposals and direct negotiations with the EU to get grants for your projects.
Participants to this course will strengthen their competences on how to be successful in the funding application process, by writing proposals which are relevant to the EU objectives, complete, well designed and attractive. An analysis of the key information to be provided in the concept note and the full application and detailed tips on how to draft a good logframe will be ensured during the course. Finally, participants will be able to prepare realistic budgets in compliance with the eligibility rules and other EU requirements.
A constant reference to the latest version of the PRAG and other DG DEVCO/DG NEAR official documents and websites will be used to make the participants familiar with them for further reference.
To provide the key information and practical tools to ensure participants to prepare successful project proposals that are relevant to the EU programs’ priorities and to draft realistic budgets.
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Detect what is important to know about the EU funding and programming system
- Identify and analyze the relevant EU programming documents, related to financial instruments and multi-annual strategic documents
- Be aware of the main steps of proposal writing process
- Be aware of the criteria that the EU will use to assess your proposal
- Draft good logframe
- Draft realistic budget compliant with the key eligibility rules and requirements
- Include all relevant information
- Be aware of all the tips that you need to take into consideration to make your proposal successful

Target group and prerequisites
Staff of not-for-profit organisations with some experience on EU funding and programming system; staff of UN agencies and other pillar assessed organisations usually participating in calls for proposals and using EU’s application formats, professionals who are interested in becoming more performant in writing project proposals, university / post graduate students.
A previous experience / knowledge on access and management of EU funds is suitable, but not compulsory
