This three-day training is focused on supporting you to deliver better quality, more agile and responsive programming and impact for the people your organisation serves.

The Justice Based Approach is the only framework that uses justice as a way of understanding our shared challenges and goals. Exploring themes such as brave accountability and alternative models, the training builds on the human rights based approach and uniquely links the humanitarian and development sectors with radical innovations happening globally.

Over 1,000 people from over 400 organisations across Asia, the Pacific and Europe have attended this training. Our participants come from all departments and levels - Country Directors, Managers, junior staff and consultants. With such a growing number of professionals using the Justice Based Approach, 2020 is a great year to discover this innovative, transformative way of working.

After receiving a lot of requests, we have decided to return to Asia with a series of six more trainings in 2020. We will be returning to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh (x2), and Sri Lanka. See our website for full schedule.

Here's what some of our participants have said about the training:

The training was the best motivation and energy-boost I had in my professional career. Participant from GIZ, Cambodia

It is a holistic approach that allows us to challenge usual practice and explore alternative solutions. Participant from UN Women, Bangladesh

You can learn tools that will help to transform the way the development practitioners design programmes. Participant from EU Delegation, Sri Lanka

Through the training, we will critically explore the gaps in current approaches and how to address them in your work. We will introduce you to the five pillars of the Justice Based Approach with real-life examples and tools to take forward in your work and life:

  • RADICAL SYSTEMS: Identify and analyse systems of power and how to address the root causes of the world's biggest problems
  • BRAVE ACCOUNTABILITY: Cultivate an accountable approach to your work and explore how to build stronger relationships with key stakeholders while holding power to account
  • LIVING DEMOCRACY: Learn about decision-making, radical ownership models and how to truly shift power in your projects so that those most affected by injustice are the ones leading the fight for justice
  • EVERYDAY ACTIVISM: Develop heightened awareness of how the actions of individuals and organisations can contribute to significant global change
  • ALTERNATIVE MODELS: Become a true innovator by stepping outside-of-the-box and learning how to develop highly impactful and holistic solutions that change the way we change our world

Daniel Bevan and Matthew Kletzing, Directors of United Edge, will be delivering the trainings.
