In addition to the environmental impacts, Professor Kovács also highlighted concerns regarding Public Health in Emergencies, stating that this was a vital consideration in programme design in line with the Do No Harm principle.

After the main session concluded, the participants formed mixed groups to discuss what more could be done within the field of Humanitarian Logistics and what supporting analysis would need to be undertaken.

Professor Kovács was also presented with an award from Humanity First International for ‘Outstanding Contributions to Humanitarian Logistics’.

Dr Aziz Hafiz, Director for Humanity First International Disaster Relief said,

“It’s been extremely beneficial having Professor Kovács attend our conference and share cutting edge thinking relating to Humanitarian Logistics with ourselves and our partners.“

Professor Kovács said,

“I really appreciate that you had me here. I hope that you continue the discussion and that we continue the discussion... I'm very glad to be part of that. This is an area where you can make a huge impact beyond the areas where you are already making an impact.”
