“Localisation of aid” has become a key policy area for many international and national humanitarian organisations in recent years, and was a major theme in the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit, sparking initiatives such as the Charter4Change and the Grand Bargain. However, most conversations on localisation still take place at the global level, and the execution of this movement at the local level is far from uniform.
This webinar explored how “localisation” is being interpreted at the local, national and regional level. One size does not fit all when it comes to localisation, so how are these global discussions on localisation being interpreted? Does contextualisation of preparedness and response programming contribute to the localisation agenda? Watch the webinar to hear experiences from other humanitarians from around the world who are invested in this change to the sector.
This session featured two speakers, highlighting their experience on the relationship between localisation and contextualization, followed by a space to share experiences, ask questions, and discuss this topic.
