Humanitarian Access

Introduction

Humanitarian Access refers to a two-pronged concept, comprising:

  • Humanitarian actors' ability to reach populations in need
  • Affected populations' access to assistance and services

Rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access is a fundamental prerequisite to effective humanitarian action, especially in situations of armed conflict, natural disasters or civil unrest.

Humanitarian Access is mandated by the GA resolution 46/182 and requires a coordinated and comprehensive analysis and action by the humanitarian community as a whole.

In this section, you will find key resources about humanitarian access in English, French and Spanish.
