Myanmar: Fire - Mar 1986

Since the serious fires in Kamayut and Thingangyun townships of Rangoon on 4 March 1986, UNDRO has been monitoring the situation. A UNDRO/UNDP resident representative reports that fires destroyed 2,350 houses rendering 20,500 people from 4,300 households homeless. Losses from the Kamayut fire alone estimated at Kyats 60 million, or US dollars 8 million. (UN DHA, 7 Mar 1986)
