
Pakistan: Earthquake - May 1992
Disaster description
An earthquake measuring 5.5 on Richter scale occurred approximately 70 km west of Peshawar, northern Pakistan, on Wednesday 20 May. Early information indicates 36 people killed and more than 100 injured in quake which caused damage to villages in area adjacent to epicenter. (UN DHA, 22 May 1992)
Latest assessment of damages resulting from 20/5 earthquake in northern Pakistan is now as follows: 37 villages affected, 115 persons killed/injured and almost 1300 houses destroyed/damaged. (UN DHA, 25 May 1992)
