Indonesia: Heavy Rains/Floods - May 1987

Disaster description

A UNDRO/UNDP resident representative reported heavy rains in Bengkulu province, southern Sumatra, which caused a 3-4 meter rise in the river level on 10 May 1987. Consequently, flooding destroyed about 126 houses, 37 people were reported drowned, 8 were found dead, and others were missing. (UN DHA, 19 May 1987)
