Thailand: Floods and Mudslides - Nov 1988
Disaster description
Torrential monsoon rains triggered major mudslides in the region of Nakhon Si Thammarat province in the South of Thailand. The government indicated that there were 334 dead, 1,878 injured and 330 missing amongst a total of 978,232 affected (including 43,349 displaced). Material damage included 51,250 houses, 3,802 roads, 833 bridges, 144 dykes and 618 schools. (UN DHA, 27 November 1988)
