Bangladesh: Tornado - Apr 1989
Disaster description
A UNDRO/UNDP resident representative reported updated information on a tornado that struck Manikganj district on 26 April as follows: the most affected sub-districts were Saturia, Daulatpur, and Manikgank Sadar; 522 were confirmed dead; the final toll may reach 1,000; 10,000 families were affected, and there was almost a total destruction of buildings within a 6 km radius from Saturia.
