1. A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE, MEASURING MORE THAN 7 ON THE RICHTER SCALE, HIT SOUTHEAST EUROPE TODAY 30 MAY 90.

PRELIMINARY HYPOCENTER: LATITUDE 47 DEGREES NORTH, LONGITUDE 26.8 DEGREES EAST DEPTH ABOUT 100 KM, ORIGIN TIME 10:39:00 GMT, MAGNITUDE 7.1 MS

2. THE EPICENTER OF THE EARTHQUAKE CAN BE TENTATIVELY LOCATED BETWEEN THE TOWNS OF PIATRA NEAMT AND BRASOV IN ROMANIA.
