Viet Nam: Floods - Oct 1995

Disaster description

Floods in the Mekong Delta are affecting seven provinces. Causing heavy damage to agriculture, irrigation systems, housing, personal belongings, transport, health and educational infrastructure. Losses are estimated at VND 228.729 (USD 20.8 million). A death toll of 85 is reported, with 176,301 houses submerged and 27,585 households facing food shortage. Four (4) provinces are affected in Central Vietnam. The death toll stands at 23, with 16 missing, 1 injured and 140,015 houses flooded. (UN DHA, 13 Oct 1995)
