Algeria: Heavy Rains/Earthquake - Feb 1992

Disaster description

Between 21-29 January 1992, following a long period of drought, torrential rains resulted in severe flooding in the areas of Alger, Tipaza, Blida and Ain-Defla inundating roads and at last 50 000 ha of land. 18 deaths had been reported. Additionally, a medium-size earthquake occurred in Ain-Defla affecting more than 450 families. OCHA, 07 Feb 1992
