Bangladesh: Floods - Sep 1986
Earlier today, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Bangladesh signed an agreement to launch a USD 14.444 million initiative, aimed at substantially reducing the impact of natural and man-made disasters on the people of Bangladesh over the next five years.

1. UNDRO/UNDP RESIDENT REPRESENTATIVE REPORTS SERIOUS FLOODING CAUSED BY INCESSANT RAIN DURING LAST FOUR DAYS THROUGHOUT COUNTRY. SOUTH-WESTERN DISTRICTS OF KHULNA, BAGERHAT, SATHKHIRA, PATHUAKHALI AND BARGUNA ARE REPORTED TO BE MAJOR AFFECTED AREAS AND ARE STILL UNDER RAIN WATER.
2. 3 PERSONS REPORTED KILLED AND 200,000 RENDERED HOMELESS.
