Disaster description

The UNDRO/UNDP representative reported that Typhoon Oyang hit the Philippines at 0400 am on 6 Oct 1986. (UN DHA, 7 Oct 1986)

The UNDRO/UNDP representative provided the following update: 11 dead, 26 persons injured, 11 persons missing; and 14,115 families or 82,529 persons in metro Manila affected and evacuated. The estimated cost of damages to roads, bridges and public works was approximately US dollars 1,200,000. (UN DHA, 8 Oct 1986)
