Minister Kohout approved humanitarian aid for Zimbabwe

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout approved a humanitarian aid for Zimbabwe. An amount of 3 mil. CZK will be granted through non-governmental organization Médecins Sans Frontières. The aid will be focused on the most serious problems of counrty people, malnutrition and illness, in Gweru, province Midlands.

Considering comfortless political-security and economic situation inhabitants of Zimbabwe suffered from long-term food insuffiency and epidemies of cholera and children infection diseases. HIV/AIDS poses a lasting problem too. The Czech Republic provides humanitarian aid (over 10 mil. CZK in 2008 - 2010) and support democratic forces for improving of human rights and democracy in Zimbabwe. in long term view. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Zimbabwe contributes to cultural relations.
