GlobalMedic is responding to the ongoing cholera epidemic in Zimbabwe

The United Nations has reported that the death toll has risen to over 1,100 and over 21,000 have been infected.

GlobalMedic, which consists of professional rescuers who volunteer their time to respond to humanitarian crises around the world, is donating 1.4 million Aquatab Water Purification Tablets and 96,000 sachets of Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS). The consignment will aid in inhibiting the easily preventable infection and also treat those who have already contracted cholera. ORS are a proven effective manner to significantly improve the mortality rates of groups suffering from diarrheal disease. Aquatabs are used by major agencies, NGOs and peacekeeping forces around the world.

The Aquatabs and ORS should be airlifted this week in partnership with World Vision. World Vision will work in conjunction with local partners to distribute the aid to populations requiring access to aid.

GlobalMedic is a Canadian based humanitarian relief organization which delivers access to clean water programs, medical infrastructure restoration and Search and Rescue operations. GlobalMedic operates on no overhead and has deployed to over 40 missions in the past 4 years.
