  • The Zero Hunger (ZH)S Strategic Review is nearing its end with the first draft report shared with key stakeholder (Programme) from WFP and IFAD currently reviewing and providing inputs. This is in preparation for a multi-stakeholder validation meeting scheduled for July 2018 where findings of the ZH report will be officially shared and to promote solutions to ending hunger in Zambia.

  • WFP Zambia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNCDF on 11 June 2018. This is to effectively leverage digital technologies and financial services, which will widen the access and the usage of financial services for accelerating financial inclusion of smallholder farmers in the fight to end hunger.

  • WFP participated in the Social Protection Week organized by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS) between 18 and 22 June 2018. The occasion showcased how schools, from the beneficiaries’ perspective, are directly procuring fresh vegetables from smallholder farmers in Mumbwa district as part of diversifying the meals served in schools and improving learners’ nutritional intake under the government Home-Grown School Meals (HGSM) programme.

  • WFP through Supply Chain between 3 and 7 May 2018 completed the setup of two Mobile Storage Units (MSUs) at Mantapala refugee resettlement camp. The MSUs have an estimated 900mt storage capacity for food commodities.

  • The monitoring and evaluation (M&E) team benefited from the RBJ Regional M&E workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa, held from 11 to 14 June 2018. The workshop aimed at equipping M&E Units in the Southern African region with knowledge on the development of a regional monitoring and implementation strategy. With an emphasis on the coordination of CO support, use of innovative data visualization technologies, coupled with technical assistance for national monitoring that will support an evaluation system in delivering national and sustainable Zero Hunger solutions
