Context Update

The situation in Hadramawt Al Wadi has continued to stabilize following the recent shifts in territorial control earlier this month. Reports indicate a decline in hostilities, supported by reported prohibitions on carrying weapons within city centers.

Only sporadic incidents have been reported.

Humanitarian Access and Basic Services

Uncertainty around military deployments and control arrangements poses a risk of bureaucratic delays and operational challenges for humanitarian actors. Uncertainty if prolonged may affect humanitarian actors and response.

On Thursday, December 11th, Sayun International Airport was closed without prior notice by the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, citing urgent maintenance. As a direct result, all domestic and international flights, including the critical Sayun–Egypt route, were diverted to Al Rayan Airport in Mukalla. A definitive timeline for the resumption of operations at Sayun Airport remains pending.

Basic services in Hadramawt Al Wadi have largely returned to pre-escalation levels. Fuel is available across all districts, and gas supplies have been secured following the release of trucks that were detained in Marib, resolving earlier supply disruptions.
