Highlights

  • It has been a month since heavy rains and flooding hit 26 districts in nine governorates of Yemen. The number of affected people reached to around 50,000 people as heavy rains and flooding continued in southern and central regions. More detailed information on situations, casualties, damages, affected people and response is given below.

  • Torrential rains triggered flash floods in Hufash, Milhan and Al Khabt Districts of Al Mahwit Governorate on 9 September, drowned at least three women, wiped away agricultural lands and some rural roads, and destroyed 14 water harvesting reservoirs.

  • At least 30 households displaced into a school in At Ta'iziyah District of Taizz Governorate after the floods inundated their houses on 9 September, wiped away their furniture and belongings.
