The world's largest food security crisis is now taking place in Yemen, with more than 17 million people food insecure and nearly 7 million at high risk of famine, according to UN USG Stephen O'Brien's statement to the UN Security Council on 30 May. He added that the country is spiralling down towards a “total collapse”, with people under a “triple threat”: conflict, famine and cholera outbreak.

Oman is reportedly engaging in mediation between the parties to the conflict in another attempt to revive the peace talks in the war-torn country, in support to the UN efforts.
