This snapshot provides an overview of the Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) implemented in Yemen from January to December 2022. Despite the considerable efforts made by humanitarian actors, the data shows a significant decrease of 29% in the number of reached people compared to the previous year, with only 5.15 million individuals receiving CVA. The total amount disbursed in 2022 was 54% lower than in 2021, with only 323.40 million provided. The reason behind this decrease is the lack of funding in addition to the challenging operating environment in Yemen, and the phase-out of the Famine Relief Fund of 2021.
Looking ahead, humanitarian actors aim to expand the sectoral Cash and Voucher Assistance, as well as the Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), to respond more efficiently to the multiple needs and preferences of affected people in Yemen. This overview showcases the response of humanitarian organizations providing Cash and Voucher Assistance in Yemen. Despite the funding shortage, partners were able to make notable progress in reaching those in need.
