HIGHLIGHTS

• July rainfall was characterized by active thunderstorms and incessant lightning activity that left 45 people, and several herds of livestock, dead across Yemen

• Lightning remains an active threat to pastoral farming across much of Yemen

• Given some rainfall activity, Desert Locust breeding is expected near Hadaramaut Valley and the plateau, where hatching hoppers usually occur

• Limiting exposure to the heat wave is encouraged, especially in Aden where severe power outages are already triggering heat stress
