A delegation from the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) left to Sana'a yesterday to finalise arrangements for construction of Khalifa City in Yemen. The Dh100 million Khalifa City will be built for the people affected by the floods there.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCA, said the Khalifa City project reflects President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's keenness to follow up the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
"His Highness the President has followed up the humanitarian situation in Yemen with a great concern. Following the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa has led many initiatives to help the brotherly people of Yemen during the difficult times," he added.
Sheikh Hamdan said the RCA had been engaged in humanitarian works in Yemen since the 70s of the last century. The Authority opened in 1996 an office in Sana'a to boost its aid programmes there in the fields of housing, health, education and water, as well as relief operations. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
