The Two Sisters’ Victory Against the Dominance of Illiteracy

“Why should we drop out of our school once you reached the sixth garde? Aren’t we entitled to pursue our education just like other children?” Somaia Asked with agony.

Once they stepped into the education age, literacy welcomed them to enroll in its halls whether they were boys/or girls. The poor education infrastructure in schools, the lack of teachers, and the low number of schools in the district of the two sisters (Mariam and Somaia) are the major deleterious impacts on education progress. However, Mariam and her sister have patrolled back and forth in a manner of resisting the adversity they encountered in their reality to pursue their education. What's more, they reached the severe point where they had to drop out of their dear school and enroll in the halls of illiteracy.

Mariam, the eleven-year-old young girl, hesitatingly with trembling voice told her little sister of seven years,
Somaia “You will bear the unendurable heat and patrol the long path alone since I have reached the last offered class in our out-of-teacher school.” They had to endure the hellish weather under the tumbledown roofs, the highly crowded classes with no ventilation, and the insufficient number of teachers just to continue their education..
However, amidst the dominance of illiteracy in the district, the willingness of students to keep up their education encountered the ignited spark of hope. Building Foundation for Development with the support and supervision of VHI implemented the long-time-needed conclusion to this misery by constructing and rehabilitating Al-Faqeed Al-Baity School.

The construction and rehabilitation intervention of Al-Faqeed Al-Baity School in Haji District,
Hadramout Governorate made the school a better environment for learning. Many classes were constructed/rehabilitated, management offices were built, and restrooms were put up to promote the hygiene practices of students, teachers, and managers. Furthermore, the installation of solar panels took place, to provide the school with the electrical power to maintain the education process.
