OCO charters aid planes to Yemen

MUSCAT - An official at the Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO) has said that the OCO chartered special aircraft to send relief aid to the brotherly people of Yemen and will continue to deliver assistance there till tomorrow. The next two days will witness a doubled volume of assistance upon the implementation of the second phase of relief aid meant to alleviate the suffering of people whose areas were devastated by recent rains and floods. The air strip between the Sultanate and Yemen helped provide the stricken areas with foodstuff, medicines, furnishings, power generators and tents.

The first phase, which kicked off at the Royal Air Force of Oman airport, consisted of 200 tonnes of relief aid sent to Al Mahra governorate and Al Ghaidha area in Yemen. Yesterday's flights reached relief aid to Al Mukalla and today's assistance will be sent to Si'oon. A Relief Committee, formed in cooperation with the Yemeni government, will continue to operate field tours to affected areas. Another team from Dhofar will join the operations.
