The IDPs camps in Marib governorate received tens of thousands of IDPs fleeing form the areas of conflict in different governorates in Yemen. Hamda’s family has been displaced from Sana’a governorate four years ago. She is a pregnant IDP who gave birth of her 10th baby at home and suffered from severe bleeding which put her life at risk. Fortunately, by her delivery time, the mobile medical team was around providing mobile health care for the people in that area and the health workers managed to save her life.
Hamda was in the last days of her tiring and arduous pregnancy in anticipation, waiting, panic and anxiety about the occurrence of any complications or the need for a hospital, as it is impossible to transfer her to the health facility to be provided with the required healthcare for her in light of the extreme poverty that she and her family lives in.
When Hamda's tenth child started his journey to our world, the family’s anticipations come true as she was exposed to postpartum complications, including severe and abnormal bleeding in such cases that could have killed her. However, the presence of the mobile medical team of BFD of the project supported by GFFO and DKH in Marib governorate helped the family to overtake this hard time.
The team was informed about the situation by Hamda’s sister. So, the midwife immediately rushed into Hamda’s house, examined her, and measured her blood pressure before providing the appropriate primary medical care for her condition.
The midwife and the doctor of the mobile medical team of BFD worked to stop the bleeding and give the patient the required medication to help replace fluids, and her condition was followed up during the team's presence in the area.
The team also examined the baby and provided tips to Hamda's sister who was helping the family to take care of the baby and the mother, and also gave her a Mama kit.
Although the hard time and the heartbreaking situation that this family passed through, the team members noticed and were able to feel the extent of joy and happiness on the family members faces as well as the satisfaction in their eyes.
That day brought them a new life and a new survival for their mom as well. The mobile medical team achieved a great deed for a simple poor family in a neglected place in the desert that was on the edge of losing their only hope in life, their care provider, their only good thing and true love in their lives. The mobile team saved their mom, and their everything.
