Nearly 86,000 children risked in Abyan

(Seyaj) has expressed its deep concern about the life of 86,000 living in areas of conflicts between the Yemeni forces and Ansar Al-Sharia (Supporters of the Islamic law) in Abyan governorate. Seyaj cautioned against the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the towns of Zinjibar, Jaar, Lawdar, Mudia and other towns that witness escalation of clashes between the Yemen army and Ansar Al-Sharia.

Early reports of monitor and documentation teams indicated that sides of the conflict used populated areas and other facilities for the purposes of war, affirming that civilians are subjected to bombardment and direct target, and that the delivery of humanitarian aids to the damaged persons is impeded.

The reports said that at least eight children were killed and 20 others were wounded.

They further cited that about 150 primary schools, one hospital, one health centre, water networks and other facilities that are used for humanitarian purposes were destroyed

Seyaj calls all conflicting sides to allow relief agencies to access civilians, distribute foodstuffs, drinking water, medicines and etc.
