Mohammed bin Rashid Foundation reaches out to flood victims in Yemen

WAM Dubai, Oct. 25, 2008 (WAM) -- The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation will begin tomorrow dispatching by air and road relief supplies of basic items to the victims of the flood that hit the Hadramaut region in Yemen to help alleviate their sufferings.

According to Deputy Board chairman of the Foundation, Ibrahim Bu-melha, the first cargo flight will depart from Dubai airport on Monday to the Al-Mukalla in Yemen to deliver emergency relief items electricity generators and water pumps. He said the electricity generators will be used in operating some clinics to provide health care to victims of the flood, adding that the water pumps will be used to drain stagnant water and pools in residential areas.

A delegation from the Foundation, led by Abdul Rahman Sabeeh, member of the Foundation's board of trustees and chairman of the International Relief Committee, will leave tomorrow to the affected areas to have first hand information and assess the actual assistance required.
