Mohammed Al Durah Health Center Keeps Alleviating Children's Suffering

Ruba is 5 years old girl, who is living with her family in the IDPs camp of Marib governorate- Al-Wadi district.
She was burned while sneaking into the cooking fire and trying to move the boiled water from top of the fire.
She turned the boil water against her causing burns in her hand and shoulder while her mother who was preparing the breakfast for her family.

Afterward, Ruba had been transported to Mohammed Al Durah health center, the medical facility supported by BFD and funded by the German Humanitarian Assistance (GFFO) in partnership with Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH). In this health center, the health workers provided her with the necessary healthcare for her burns and followed up with her situation until the total recovery.

Ruba's mother brought her daughter to Mohammed Al Durah Center. ‘’When I received her, I noticed that her mother brought her immediately after the accident, which helped in providing the health care instantly and treating the burn in the right way for such case. Later, this helped in the quick recovery of the burns. ", said Hind Saleh, one of the health workers of the health center who are incentivized by the project.

Ruba's family is one of the families that fled their homes in Al-Hodaydah governorate as a result of the ongoing armed conflict that takes place in Al Hodaydah governorate. The family was displaced to Al Hodn area, Al-wadi district, Marib Governorate.

"I feel painful all the time and nether be able to sleep well nor wear my clothes due to the burns in my hand and my shoulder” Ruba said expressing her pain. Meanwhile, Ruba's mother showed her gratefulness for the satisfactory treatment provided to her little daughter, ‘’ without your assistance, we were not able to provide such health care to my daughter nor able to buy her even a painkiller to relieve her pain. We wish if this support continues to reduce our burden and help us in these difficult life conditions that we live in. We are suffering to provide even the basic life needs of food and water, how about medical treatment!’’

Supported by BFD, Mohammed Al-Durah health center in Al-Wadi district receives everyday a variety of patients. The majority of the patients are from women, children and injured people in accidents. Most of the patients are suffering from difficult life conditions in the IDPs camps of Al-Wadi district.
