Who are we?
As Yemen was divided into two States, two National Societies existed side by side. The first Society was established in Aden on January 18, 1968 while the second one was established in Sana’a on July 16, 1970. The two Societies worked separately according to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement until they were united in October 1993 following the Yemeni union on May 22, 1990. The Yemen Red Crescent Society is well known by all social groups of the Yemeni people for its history in humanitarian work. IFRC has a status agreement in the country and integration agreements with Participating NSs of Denmark, Germany and Norway. -
What is our mission?
