Yemen has been struggling with a multifaceted crisis for over eight years, marked by armed violence, economic instability, and disruptions to public services. According to Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) 2023, an estimated 21,6 million Yemenis will need humanitarian assistance and protection services in 2023.
This report provides an overview of livelihood options and youth labor-market perspectives in Yemen's Ash Shamayatayn district. This research aims to examine the district's youth's sources of income, employment opportunities, and barriers. It also evaluates the role of local authorities, government programs, and non-governmental organizations in creating job opportunities and empowering youth. In addition, the report examines labor market demand for services and skills, access to vocational training programs, entrepreneurship opportunities and challenges, and access to microfinance and small business loans.
Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) conducts this study to provide insights and recommendations to help youth in Ash Shamayatayn improve their employment and livelihood opportunities.
Specific Objectives

Explore the livelihood sources, employment opportunities, and barriers to employment faced by youth in Ash Shamayatayn district.
