Cash Consortium of Yemen - Flash Update 71: YER Exchange Rate Volatility May Week 4 & June Week 1

Key findings:

• The difference between the IRG and DFA exchange rates currently stands at 802 YER, indicating a significant variation.

• The exchange rate in DFA regions has shown an appreciation trend since April 2022.

• During the period of May W4 & Jun W1, the exchange rate range between the maximum and minimum values shrank from 43 to 39 YER in the South, indicating stability in exchange shops within the IRG areas. In contrast, the exchange rate range in the North remained the same at 9 YER, indicating stability among exchange shops in the DFA areas.

• Both Al Dhale’e and Hajjah have the highest exchange rate values in IRG and DFA areas, respectively.
